5th Grade Literature
STEP #1: Choose one (1) from the following list of books:
- Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk. ISBN: 978-1101994825
- Circus Mirandus by Cassie Beasley. ISBN: 978-0525428435

STEP #2: Then, complete one (1) project from the list below. Projects will be DUE on the second day of school.
- THANK YOU LETTER. Write a thank you letter to the main character of the book, thanking that person for teaching you a valuable lesson. Be specific about the events that happened, and be specific about what you learned.
- MOVIE POSTER. Imagine that your book has just been made into a movie. Create a movie poster for your book (use regular-sized 8x11 paper or larger). On the front side of the poster, draw or create a visually appealing poster which includes a title, picture (related to things in the book), and statements that will attract attention and persuade readers to want to see the movie version of your book. On the back side of the poster, include starring roles (characters), locations (setting), and a brief summary of events.
- ALTERNATE ENDING. Create and write and alternate ending for your book. Be creative in your planning, considering how a different ending might change the outcome for the characters. There should be a minimum of 2-3 paragraphs with few grammar and spelling errors.
- RAP OR SONG. Write and/or record a rap or song about a story element from the book. You may use a familiar tune to create your rap/song. The rap or song must demonstrate an understanding of key ideas in the book.
- TRAVEL MAP. Choose the main setting of your book and draw a map of it, labeling important places. Include as much detail as possible, but not so much that your map is un-readable. Use 8x11 paper.
- SURPRISE! Show your knowledge of the book through a project not listed above. This is your personal option….a way to show your knowledge of the book by doing something totally original.
Good luck and have fun!
